I struggle when I add Nicaraguan coffees to our offerings, because this country continues to produce top tiered coffees, but doesn't get the acclaim for them. They seem to sell slower than I would expect. So when I decided to add this one, it had to be exceptional, and it is.
As we sampled this coffee along the different roast profiles, we found a wide range of flavor notes. Which I believe is a testimony to the quality of this coffee. We could've recommended this coffee as a fruited light roast or as a complex medium roast, but we decided that it really shines roasted dark and showing off the stunning dark chocolate and nutty flavors. This level makes it a versatile bean, amazing in a french press and as a cold brew. Try this one, you won't be disappointed.
Javanica is a rare low-yield variety of coffee, that typically produces a uniquely balanced and complex cup. This coffee was grown in Matagalpa, Nicaragua at an altitude of 850 - 1110 meters by the Limoncillo farm.
Limoncillo is owned by the Mierisch Family and managed by Santos Demitris Flores. This farm was given its name from an unusual growth of lemon trees that were originally found there. It is a huge farm at 171 hectares and heavy forest provide plenty of shade for the coffee. This farm was awarded 2nd place in the 2008 Cup Of Excellence.
