Honduras El Rodeo Honey | Green Coffee Beans

Recommended Roast Level

City Plus (Medium)

Tasting Notes:

I keep going back to this point, but I still think that Honduras coffees are the best-kept secret in the coffee industry.  They are generally more complex than a typical Latin American coffee bean, and yet they have the smooth, rich and chocolatey notes that make Latin American coffees famous.  This is a more caramel-fruited version.  I have never used pomegranate to describe a coffee before and I am not sure I'm right, but its the best fruit that I can think of as I taste the just pure juiciness of this coffee.

The 10-hectare farm is located in the mountain range El Pacayal. It was purchased by the Carrillo family 3 years ago, who have managed to bring the farm back to life and improve cup quality through attention to growing and processing.

The name El Rodeo is derived from the fact that this farm surrounds the urban area of the municipality of Chinacla. The municipality of Chinacla has been a reference of quality in recent years. Producers of Chinacla have won national and international competitions, including the Cup of Excellence on two occasions. Mrs. Natalia Pineda, the mother of Karen and Edgar Carrillo, was awarded 4th place in Cup of Excellence in 2017 for her coffee from Finca Las Flores in the same town of Chinacla.

In addition to producing amazing coffee, the farm is being used to share experiences and teach good practices of sustainable and organic production to other producers of the Pacayal group. El Rodeo also provides support for the care center in Chinacla for individuals with disabilities.
